Here’s how to track it down, using methods that work across Pakistan’s Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).
What Is a Matric Registration Number?
Your registration number is the unique ID your Board (for most Karachi students, this is BISE Karachi) assigns you when you register for 9th grade. It stays with you through both 9th and 10th grade and is required for admit cards, result cards, and re-checking applications — separate from your roll number, which changes every exam session.
1. Check Your Original Registration Card
The first and most reliable source is the physical registration card your Board issued when you first registered in 9th grade. This is usually kept by your school’s exam section, not by the student directly — so if you can’t find your own copy, this is the first place to ask.
2. Ask Your School’s Exam/Admin Office
Every school keeps a record of each student’s registration number on file, tied to their admission records. This is usually the fastest option — a two-minute conversation with the school office can resolve it immediately, since they submitted your registration to the Board in the first place.
3. Search the BISE Karachi Online Portal
BISE Karachi (and most other Boards) provide an online result/search portal where you can look up your registration number using your name, father’s name, and date of birth if you don’t have any physical documents. Availability and the exact search fields vary by year and Board, so check your specific Board’s official website.
4. Check Your 9th Grade Result Card / Marksheet
If you already gave your 9th-grade Matric exam, your registration number is printed directly on the result card/marksheet you received. This is usually the quickest place to look if you’ve kept your documents from the previous year.
5. Visit the Board Office Directly
If none of the above work — for example, if records were lost or a transfer between schools created confusion — you can visit your Board’s office directly (BISE Karachi for most North Karachi students) with your CNIC/B-Form and ask them to look up your registration number against your name and date of birth.

Your registration number is required to:
